Alcohol and tobacco are two of the best selling items at all convenience stores (C-Stores). With the high volumes of these items being sold it is important that the proper steps are taken to ensure that the buyers of these items are of legal age.
Over 18, Under 21
The color LCD display quickly and accurately alerts the cashier what the customer is legally able to purchase. In this example the customer can purchase tobacco (18+), but not alcohol (21+). These age limits are customizable.

On the surface, the Digital Doorkeep is a relatively simple, 5 step age verification system:
- The customer hands their ID card to the bouncer.
- The bouncer scans the customer’s ID, and gives it a visual inspection.
- The encoded data is processed by our system, where the patron’s age is calculated and displayed to the bouncer on the color LCD display.
- The screen flashes green if the customer is of age, red if they are not.
- The ID card is handed back to the customer, and they’re on their way.
The age of the customer has been digitally verified, and the patron was either let into the establishment or denied entry, based on the result. This marks the end of the age verification system, and the beginning of the customer understanding system.
Because the Digital Doorkeep system captures data about your specific customer (that you capture every time you verify a customer’s age), you build a database that defines who your customer is.
Use the web based Digital Doorkeep Reporting System to see exactly who your customers are based on age:

and gender:
A quick glance at the above graphs tells us who has come to our establishment in the last two hours: primarily males between the ages of 27 and 32. This information can be used to coordinate drink or food specials to better target your actual customer in order to increase sales.

Earlier this week we attended the Wisconsin Tavern League Association Trade Show at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI. As an exhibitor we had a 10 foot booth where we were able to demonstrate our product, discuss our system with bar owners, and talk to other exhibitors about our ID Scanning Systems. Overall the event was great, and we even heard a few other uses of our system (aside from age verification).
One gentleman from the TLW Safe Ride program thought a great use of the product would be to quickly capture the information (name, address, city, state, zip) from those who use their service for a free cab ride home. This way they can track who uses Safe Ride, and easily send postcards and other direct mail marketing pieces to them.
Another gentleman who was an exhibitor with North Country Business Products suggested that we could market our system to trade show exhibitors. What an easy way to keep track of who you talk to at a trade show.

Our hand held and wall mounted ID scanners help bars, restaurants, liquor stores, and night clubs digitally verify the age of their patron. By scanning the bar code on the back of the license our system can display patron age, detect fake IDs, and help you better understand your customer.
Hand Held ID Scanner
The wireless, battery powered, hand held ID scanner will give bouncers, bartenders, store clerks and stadium beer sales people the ability to scan IDs and verify patron age from anywhere.
Wall Mounted ID Scanner
The wall mounted ID scanner has a small form factor and can be mounted nearly anywhere. Place one at the entryway of your tavern, or near the cash register of your convenient store.

Our age verification software is designed to digitally verify a person’s age by physically scanning their driver license (or state issued ID card) with one of our custom scanners. The scanned data is fed through our application where it is processed and displayed to the door person or bartender.
Our application quickly and accurately can calculate and display:
- Patron age
- Driver license/ID card expiration date
- Defining physical characteristics (age, height, eye color, hair color, etc)
This lets bouncers and bartenders DIGITALLY VERIFY A PATRON’S AGE before they are given access to an age restricted facility or product.
Our Software is Web Based.
This means it is an application running off a web server that can be accessed over the internet, and from anywhere in the world. There are no programs to install, and you’ll never have to manually update our software. Its all managed on our end.
Our Software is Easy to Use, and Highly Intuitive.
A door person or bartender scans the back of the patron’s ID. If a patron’s ID is scanned and they’re of legal age, the screen turns green. If a patron’s ID is scanned and they’re not of legal age, the screen turns red.

In Depth Patron Reporting is Built In
When a driver license or ID card is scanned the age is verified. The patron’s information such as age, height, address, city, state and zip are also stored. Log into the web based reporting system and view exactly WHO visits your bar by age, gender, or both. Better target your visitors by better understanding them.
Ready to Purchase?
To get started all you need is a Digital Doorkeep bar code scanner and a working internet connection. These are available in our online store.
