Understand Your Customer: Targeting by age & gender

On the surface, the Digital Doorkeep is a relatively simple, 5 step age verification system:

  1. The customer hands their ID card to the bouncer.
  2. The bouncer scans the customer’s ID, and gives it a visual inspection.
  3. The encoded data is processed by our system, where the patron’s age is calculated and displayed to the bouncer on the color LCD display.
  4. The screen flashes green if the customer is of age, red if they are not.
  5. The ID card is handed back to the customer, and they’re on their way.

The age of the customer has been digitally verified, and the patron was either let into the establishment or denied entry, based on the result. This marks the end of the age verification system, and the beginning of the customer understanding system.

Because the Digital Doorkeep system captures data about your specific customer (that you capture every time you verify a customer’s age), you build a database that defines who your customer is.

Use the web based Digital Doorkeep Reporting System to see exactly who your customers are based on age:

and gender:

patron-count-by-genderA quick glance at the above graphs tells us who has come to our establishment in the last two hours: primarily males between the ages of 27 and 32. This information can be used to coordinate drink or food specials to better target your actual customer in order to increase sales.

WI Tavern League Trade Show

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Earlier this week we attended the Wisconsin Tavern League Association Trade Show at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI.  As an exhibitor we had a 10 foot booth where we were able to demonstrate our product, discuss our system with bar owners, and talk to other exhibitors about our ID Scanning Systems.  Overall the event was great, and we even heard a few other uses of our system (aside from age verification).

One gentleman from the TLW Safe Ride program thought a great use of the product would be to quickly capture the information (name, address, city, state, zip) from those who use their service for a free cab ride home. This way they can track who uses Safe Ride, and easily send postcards and other direct mail marketing pieces to them.

Another gentleman who was an exhibitor with North Country Business Products suggested that we could market our system to trade show exhibitors.  What an easy way to keep track of who you talk to at a trade show.
